| Description: | Girl Scouts Heart of the South is passionate about building strong partnerships within the 59 counties of our council jurisdiction. Girl Scouts also strives to brand the Girl Scout Leadership Experience and fulfill our mission of community service and altruism. For nearly a century, Girl Scouts has played a pivotal role in educating America in the protection of our environment and the promotion of civic responsibility in our communities. This fall, Girl Scouts and the Tunica RiverPark will host an event that you will not want to miss! On Saturday, October 16th, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., our community will 'Romp on the River', a free event for the entire family. The Tunica RiverPark is located in Tunica, MS (beside Fitzgerald's Casino) and is perfect for family outings or a nostalgic sunset walk. Tunica RiverPark allows you to interact up close with the awe-inspiring beauty of the Mississippi River encompassing nature and horse trails, an interactive museum and aquarium, a 48 foot River Overlook, and leisurely riverboat cruises down the mighty Mississippi River. Romp on the River is a FREE Community Eco Festival showcasing the 'green' community and artisans and musicians on the Mississippi River. The event features live music, authentic arts and crafts, delicious foods, riverboat cruises, nature trails, and geocaching. Romp on the River is thankful for the support of the Environmental Protection Agency who will bring, "Watershed Harmony", an innovative musical puppet show teaching the importance of water quality. Families will also enjoy Tunica Queen Riverboat cruises, hikes through the 'Tunica Eco-Trail', enjoying hand-crafted art forms, enjoying musicians from across Tennessee and Mississippi, and learning the technological scavenger hunt of geocaching! Girl Scouts even have opportunities to earn Earth-Friendly patches for every age level. Don't miss a fun-filled, fall Saturday in Tunica, MS! | |||
