Eagle Fest 2015 is a family friendly event to showcase one of our great natural resources - wildlife. The Fest will be held in a profoundly natural and scenic setting, showcasing a variety of interactive exhibits which will highlight imaginative ways to teach children (and adults) of all ages the fundamentals of caring for and enjoying nature. Live educational animals including the Bald Eagle, named Lewis from the World Bird Sanctuary will plan to appear in order to "share their stories".
Eagle Fest is designed as an initiative to begin the building process of the ARK, a 154 acre park which already has walking trails in place, and plans to build a nature center as a hub of activity for wildlife rehabilitation and education in wildlife management. It promises to be a multi-faceted jewel as a destination for school field trips, family outings, wildlife enthusiasts and nature seekers. The ARK is a cooperative effort by the Army Corp of Engineers, Mississippi Wildlife Rehabilitation, Inc., DeSoto County Greenways to open a new and exciting venue of exploration and destination.
